Glowing Up JoJo

JoJo Siwa has been gracing our television screens and social media for quite some time. We first met her on the reality dance show phenomenon Dance Moms where she joined the cast at 9 years-old when she competed on the series spinoff Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition during its second season in 2013. From there, her engaging personality became a household name across the tween and teen scene, conquering TV, music, merchandising and more as dancers and fans everywhere raced to buy and don Siwa’s iconic single ponytail and trademark bow.

In the summer of 2021, we had the opportunity to meet Siwa and her mom, Jessalyn when Inside Dance was on the scene for Siwas Dance Pop Revolution filming outside of Los Angeles, CA. The unscripted show is being produced by Evolution Media for the NBCUniversal streamer Peacock, and developed by Bryan Stinson of Stinson Media and Jessalynn Siwa (JoJo’s mom and manager).

While on the scene in California, our Inside Dance crew had front row seats to the show’s filming and competition setting! Dancers and studios from across the country took the stage and performed their hearts out while competing against Studio Siwa for top awards and titles. Drew Vamosi, owner of LEAP! National Dance Competition, was the master of ceremonies as his event staff hosted episode three of the show. What a dynamic job by all!

Kickin’ it with THE Kristin McQuaid!

Kristin’s off-the-wall energy, passion, and the ability to have no fear in trying new talents, helps others find their passion. Kickin’ it with Kristin was created by renowned choreographer and creative director Kristin McQuaid to bring self confidence, curiosity, and courage out of everyone!

Kristin believes that everyone is talented in their own unique way and she wants to celebrate it with YOU! McQuaid has designed Kickin’ it with Kristin so everyone can get a glimpse into all different talents and activities without having to spend a fortune. You, your child, or anyone watching might see a talent that they didn’t even know existed! Or, maybe it’s a talent that you have seen others do but may not have the courage to try. Who better to guide you through those first few awkward moments when learning something new than with a zany, crazy, powerhouse personality – Kristin!

Tell us about the catalyst for Kickin’ it with Kristin and what is so special about this project?

Kristin McQuaid: One of my common phrases is “To be fearlessly authentic.” In life, we often get told “Just be YOU.” It’s not that easy as we evolve, grow, and change every day. We aren’t the same person we were yesterday. So instead, I’m bringing awareness of being you in the moment. There is only one of you in the entire world, don’t shy away from the unknown out of fear, let me guide you through some fun adventures that will leave you wanting more each week! No matter your age, interests, or type of entertainment you like to watch, I’ll be embarking on some adventurous talents and you will be right alongside with me every step of the way! I’ve always thought, “What if I would have tried singing or horseback riding as a young child, would I have been successful? Would it have brought out a side of me that I never knew existed?” That very moment is when Kickin’ it with Kristin was born.
